Unfortunately, yesterday morning my website was hacked by someone phishing Yahoo! users. They sent out thousands of emails asking users to verify their accounts. By clicking the verify button, they would be sent to a .php file that the hackers put on my server. It seems that they drew more than 3,000 people to these phishing sites using my server, and also tried to hack other servers hosted by the same company.
Thankfully, I was notified of this due to a few emails from those smart enough to check out the rest of my website and realize I had nothing to do with Yahoo. I quickly went onto my server and saw that I had .php files that were not mine.
Due to this, I was forced to take down my website until I have a chance to contact GreenGeeks hosting and fix the issue. This probably won't happen until after PAX East. This means that my firstname.lastname@example.org email is also down.
